Cherise Shipp Lynch

I managed a private club in Lawrence, after attending Washburn U. for two years (didn't finish). I tried to sell real estate and failed miserably and ended up working as a licensed mental health technician at Menninger's for 13 years, plus 3 at Topeka State Hospital which I really enjoyed. In 1995, I met my future husband on a cruise, and after 4 years of writing letters, phone calls and plane trips I moved to Raleigh in 1999. I bought another house, found a job in a wholesale interior design showroom and explored the city my boyfriend lived in. In 2004, we married and have two shetland sheep dogs that complete our family. We enjoy traveling. I do volunteer work since retiring 7 years ago, and having a big vegetable garden. Enjoy going to the gym and hiking. Love traveling to other countries and the USA. Have a trip to Yosemite to hike next.

No school story to speak of, as I was pretty shy. I went to class and then to my job at Smaks drive in, at 21st and Buchanan (50 cents hour, my first job, other than babysitting) Later I worked at Blaylock Drug, after school and weekends. Sewed some of my own clothes, no car, so always walked home from school with best friend Nancy Robison. Best memory would be senior trip to New York/DC. I was such a fraidy cat and naive, so it was an eye opening experience, plus the chaperones couldn't exactly keep up with all of us every minute. I remember going to a club with hula dancers one night and drinks in pineapples and coconuts with a crowd I never really fit into, but I was brave that night, and I've never forgotten how special it was.
