Kathleen Louise "Katie" Evans
Kathleen Louise Katie Cummins Evans, 50, of Topeka, passed
away Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born August 5, 1955 in Cambridge, England, the
daughter of Raymond "Gene" and Florence Doreen (Monger)
Cummins. She received a BA at Washburn University. Katie
was employed by SRS in economic and employment services
for over 20 years. She was an active and founding member
of many community social service agencies and programs
including domestic violence, welfare reform, and mental
health. She also worked for Valeo Services with the Crises
Hotline. She was a member of the Central Congregational
Church. She married James Evans. They later divorced.
Survivors include a son, Kyan Evans and a daughter, Meghan
Evans; a sister, Janis Perry; a grandson, Brayden Evans;
two nephews, Andrew Perry and Kero Zimmerman; her step-
mother, Rosella Cummins, all of Topeka; a step-brother,
Charles St. Louis of Hawaii; and many close friends. Mrs.
Evans was cremated. Memorial services will be 2 p.m.,
Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Davidson Funeral Home.
Private inurnment will be at a later date. Contributions
may be made to the Kathleen Evans Memorial Fund, sent in
care of Credit Union One of Kansas, 610 SW 10th., Topeka,
